our process

At Sweetpea, we believe jewelry should feel personal—like a keepsake passed down through time. That’s why each piece is crafted using the lost wax casting method, an ancient technique that has been used for centuries to create intricate, heirloom-quality jewelry.

Hand-Carving in Wax

Each piece starts as a block of wax, carefully sculpted by hand. The wax is sawed, sanded, filed, and carved to the desired shape. This step is where the details come to life- soft curves and organic textures, all shaped by hand.

Creating the Mold

Once the wax design is complete, it’s encased in a plaster-like material called investment. The mold is then heated in a kiln, causing the wax to melt away—leaving behind a perfect impression of the original design.

 Casting in Solid Silver

With the wax now gone, molten sterling silver (.925) is carefully poured into the empty mold, filling every fine detail. As the metal cools and solidifies, the design is transformed from wax to silver, preserving the character of the handcrafted original.

Finishing & Polishing

Once the casting is complete, the piece is removed from the mold and refined by hand. It’s sanded, polished, given its final texture, and checked for quality—ensuring every detail is just right.

Lost wax casting allows for subtle variations, making each piece feel unique—like it already carries a story of its own. Designed to be worn, loved, and passed down, our jewelry isn’t just an accessory—it’s a small, tangible piece of something timeless.
